Maria Bourn

Maria A. Bourn is an attorney at Sarnoff + Sarnoff.  Maria has dedicated her entire legal career to representing employees discriminated against based on their gender, race, ethnicity, or disability. Maria has been practicing law since 2010.  During law school, Maria dedicated over 1200 hours volunteering as a certified legal intern with several non-profit organization serving Bay Area residents.   In 2005, Maria graduated magna cum laude from Oregon State University with a bachelor’s degree in biology and received numerous awards for her volunteer work, including Outstanding Graduate of the Year.

Maria is a member of the California Employment Lawyers Association (“CELA”) and co-chair of CELA’s Public Employees Committee. She holds memberships with the Bar Association of San Francisco, Palo Alto Area Bar Association, San Mateo County Bar Association, and she is on the AIDS Legal Referral Panel.  Currently, Maria is co-chair of the Bar Association of San Francisco Barristers’ Labor and Employment section and co-chair of the San Mateo County Bar Association Labor and Employment Law section.  Maria also volunteers as a Board Member of the Golden Gate Regional Center, a state-funded nonprofit organization serving individuals with disabilities in Marin, San Francisco, and San Mateo Counties.

  • Maria is a member of The State Bar of California and is licensed to practice before all state courts. She is also admitted to the U.S. District Courts for the Northern, Central, and Southern Districts of California.
  • In 2016, Maria was named a “Northern California Rising Star” by Super Lawyers, a rating service of outstanding lawyers from more than 70 practice areas who have attained a high-degree of peer recognition and professional achievement. This distinction is based on a peer review process and is awarded to only the top 2.5% of attorneys under age 40 or in practice for less than 10 years.
